i know i only posted on the board 8 days ago- a little over a week.. at the beginning of this week, i went from hopeless and depressed, feeling like i had no way out.. .
but throughout the course of 8 days, i have been shown kindness that i haven't seen in years.. i have been reached out to in ways i didn't even know was possible.. in a little over 8 days, i went from feeling alone in a dark abyss of a world, to having an entire support group, that i know cares about me and understands me and exactly how i think and feel.. in one week, i have mustered up the courage to speak up to a friend who i have known for half my life, but was too afrait to tell about my doubts.. i have come to realize that, he, too is planning to leave this organization- never telling me because of fear i would reject him- and likewise for me.. i just wanted to notify all who have helped, that you will not be forgotten- i would have never imagined this much support when i first submitted my account information one month ago, unsure about my entire life.. .

The only conclusion for me is that God does not exist. If, you and I as simple human beings would do something about the suffering if we had the power - than how come someone who is omnipotent and love itself allows billions of people to suffer, get sick, live in poverty and eventually die - all because two people ate a f*cking apple. No the only valid explaination for me is that the scientific explaination of big-bang and evolution must be true.
If I am wrong and God does exist, he can take a freaking hike - I want no part of such a person...
it would take too long to explain how this conversation came about, but my jw sister recently told me that the organization now teaches that you can (she even suggested that you "should") have a relationship with family members who are not jw.
she didn't specify whether they meant family who were never jws to begin with, or what, but in the context of the conversation we were talking about family members raised as jws but then left (not disfellowshipped or formally disassociated ... just left).. she said they even had a talk about it at the convention this summer, and had an experience of someone who reconnected with family after 10 years.
she said they said you should have a relationship with them, even if they never become witnesses.
My understanding is that the talk at the DC this year advised to minimize contact with non-witness family.
i don't want to high jack african gb's thread but something got me thinking.... moses, abraham were inbred and hearing god's voice... paul never met jesus yet he is the only apostle coming down like a hammer of gays and has this "close bond" with timothy.
then there is the issue of "horus" the egyptian god and is this where the story of jesus comes from.
i have searched the internet for information on horus and have not had much luck finding anything authorative either way.. my question is do you or don't you believe in the bible and why or why not?

i was once counseled for not shaving after two days.

To wear a tie out in service even though it was a heat wave (WTF was I doing out in servce anyway).
Told that I should take the kids in the second school and spank them if they were not quiet...or better, go sit directly in the second school so as not to distract the congregation.
When I started researching my doubts, it was via the Internet that I found everything I needed. Without Internet I would almost certainly still be "in", perhaps somewhat more on my own terms, but certainly not out - and if out, not so sure of myself as I now am. I know for a fact that I made the right decision to leave and have absolutely no fear for Armageddon.
